1/10/2022 0 Comments What to Declutter?Although I can’t tell you exactly what to declutter, I can tell you where to start - the “easiest” to “hardest” areas of your home; it can vary from person to person (Want a more specific approach for *your* family? Have a call with me!). The “snowball effect” often takes over when you get rolling and start to see progress - easy areas get decluttered quickly and harder areas get easier. What could make areas hard to get rid of the clutter?
📚 Overstuffed / piled up 🎁 Sentimental / gifted items 🧽 Want to DIY / remodel, etc. Where do you start when you’re faced with these challenges? ⏳ Set a timer, grab a garbage bag, and take 15 minutes a day to work thru an overstuffed room (if it’s very overwhelming on its own) 👨👩👧👦 Remember to hold onto memories - not (necessarily) stuff 💝 Live in the present - use what you have now as you plan for the future Sentimental items can be especially hard to declutter (this is often what makes the closet one of the hardest places!). This shelf in our kitchen has items that hold a few fun memories - a teacup and saucer from when my parents took me to Williamsburg, VA when I was a kid (part of which was the American Girl experience - Felicity from 1774 was my favorite!), an ashtray we got when my husband and I lived in Vegas and took a trip to Area 51 with close friends and a candle I got when we first moved to AZ that reminds me of our cross-country trip out west when we made stops on historic Route 66. Where did you start decluttering? OR What’s something sentimental you decided to keep and why? Tell me!
