Tidy Thoughts
Articles, tips and inspiration all about attainable minimalism for moms and families.
Don't fold what you don't have to...My mom would probably have a fit (she insisted on folding my cleaning rags when she visited last time and I fought with her trying to get her to stop - ha!) if she heard me saying this, but you DO NOT need to fold everything, especially the tedious stuff! Still folding any of these? Try designating a bin for them (in the case of clothing, one per person) - Pajamas - Rags / cleaning cloths - Burp cloths, changing pad covers, crib sheets, etc. - Socks (I don't even match them anymore!) - Underwear While you're doing laundry, clean out each time! Permanently stained? GONE! Ripped and beyond repair? Bye! Just plain ugly (not that you buy ugly clothes, but I sure do sometimes, haha!!)? See ya! Recycle, donate or trash these. Even if you're not intending on cleaning out your closet, it's a great way to keep everything tidy with little effort and maximum efficiency! It's great to be able to give things you no longer want or use a second life if you can. My favorite stain remover...What's the best stain remover for kid's clothes? Good, old SUNLIGHT! Yes, even the "oh crap, I forgot to check this before it went into the dryer and now it's probably permanently stained" clothes. Even adult clothes too, of course! After doing this for a while now, my kid's clothes look better than if I used an actual stain remover! 1️⃣ Wash 2️⃣ Separate (before or after the dryer) 3️⃣ 🌞 Anything washable that winds up stained, within about a day, maybe two if absolutely necessary, the stains are completely gone. Sunny Arizona is a nice perk with messy babes. The big question is... does it fade the actual clothes too? No, nothing my kids wear on a regular basis that have had the sun treatment have faded - cotton, denim, etc. With kids heading back to school, and activities and playdates resuming, keep this tip in the back of your mind and try it on your next muddy mess!
