Articles, tips and inspiration all about attainable minimalism for moms and families.
![]() No matter how much you stick to a routine or (loose) schedule at home, going out can totally throw you off - anything can happen when kids are involved! It may sound counterintuitive, but being prepared with the RIGHT tools is an important part of minimalish living. Owning less and being more intentional ensures that you have things that add value to you and your family's life. Sometimes it's actually easier to have a few *extra* things you could need, especially when you're out with the little ones! I carry my stocked backpack. Maybe you're extremely minimalist and only throw a diaper in your purse - but, how many times do you *wish* you had...

1/25/2022 0 Comments Kitchen Gadget Chaos![]() Storing kitchen gadgets can make you say, "What the fork?". Here are a few tips: 👩🍳 Declutter these like CRAZY - be honest with yourself; (see: the mortar and pestle I used once and likely will never use again) *especially* before you buy any bins/containers! 👩🍳 Keep what you use closest to where you’ll grab it 👩🍳 Don’t overcrowd bins; give everything a designated home 👩🍳 Maintain/repair/replace tools you use and find valuable in your toolbox Some choose to have bare counters. I cook daily, so I don’t mind tools I use on my counters: 🔪 Utensil crock 🔪 Knife block 🔪 Salt, pepper and sugar crocks (these are SO convenient!) Containers are from Ikea and Target- between $2-$4 for multi-packs! I’ll take you through my kitchen in stories later for some other fun kitchen hacks you may want to try. Do you struggle with organizing your gadgets? 8/4/2021 0 Comments 3 Favorite Diaper Bags Review![]() Got anywhere to go with the kids this weekend? It's a great opportunity to note what is working and what isn't working for you for your diaper bag. Welcoming your little one soon? Check out the info about these bags, below and see more reviews on instagram! Petunia Picklebottom Axis Backpack ⭐ Love the insulated bottom section that holds the Inter-Mix modular packing system ⭐ Don't like the length of the pocket under the straps - wish it was the full length of the bag to accommodate a larger notebook or small laptop Skiphop Greenwich Backpack ⭐ Love the large pocket under straps and roomy front pocket ⭐Don't like the boxy interior, things get jostled when not contained in an additional interior bag Tactical Baby Gear Diaper Bag backpack ⭐ Love the use of molle webbing and ability to add pouches and extra storage ⭐ Don't like the bulky addition of the changing pad underneath the straps, I tend to just take a few Munchkin disposable pads to save space and remove any changing pads that come with the bag There are SO MANY brands of diaper bag out there, and you don't even need a specific diaper bag, you can use whatever bag you want! A diaper-specific bag usually includes extra pockets and compartments for maximum storage but there are plenty of ways to get around this and do something different. Do you have a favorite diaper or on-the-go bag for carrying baby and kid stuff? ![]() Can you be that mom who throws two diapers in your purse? Absolutely. BUT, will this list and an efficiently packed bag make your life easier? You bet. When you pack efficiently, you pack limited amounts of the RIGHT stuff. Kids are unpredictable, right? Diaper bag goals... ⭐ Have enough stuff for a few hours and consider that you may be out for longer ⭐ Designate a few clothing items, toys / books ONLY for the diaper bag ⭐ Drop a monthly reminder on your calendar to swap out clothes, toys /books based on your child's growth and interests ⭐ Repack diapers and wipes as soon as you get back for the next outing These four tips have significantly cut down on my time to get out the door with the two kids. And a minute saved can make the difference in a missed doctors appointment. Or even a late-to-school-thanks-mom detention. 3/4/2021 0 Comments Maximize The Minimum Baby Gear![]() When I first found out I was pregnant, I started checking out baby gear. WOW, there are so, so many things for babies and kids. I created a registry (mostly for ourselves - sign up everywhere you might want something! Most offer discounts for “completion”!), and then took a few months off of looking in my second trimester and started panicking in my third - the analysis paralysis was overwhelming to me. So many moms I had spoken to said, “You don’t need much.” One even said forgo the changing table all together and just change them on the floor. While that sounded like a great money-saving trick, I wanted a changing surface, and, with a huge Labrador retriever, floor changes weren’t going to work for us. While I’ll go much deeper into this in posts down the road, here are a few items that I would highlight that make a great “starter set” of baby gear, while also trying to keep the clutter to a minimum. We knew that we wanted to have two or more kids (the more is still a maybe, ha!). So we bought with multiple kids in mind. |
