Tidy Thoughts
Articles, tips and inspiration all about attainable minimalism for moms and families.
Part One in a Three-Part Series | Part Two | Part Three ![]() I asked myself that very question many, many times. Especially as a young adult who loved spontaneity. And being late. And doing stuff last minute. When I first became a mom I remember hearing the phrase (or something similar) all too often- 'children thrive on routine'. It was great to read on paper, but I can remember when my first was in her early months and in the middle of one of her crying fits thinking "how the hell am I supposed to make a routine when this is the norm?" For most, those first three months are really just survival mode, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't strive to create healthy habits that will set you up to easily transition to a routine that works for the whole family as your baby grows.

2/17/2021 0 Comments My Journey to Motherhood![]() Let’s do a quick overview of how it all began. Back in May 2018, I got pregnant for the first time. We had moved from Pennsylvania to Vegas in fall 2017. It was a new job (for my husband, I was able to stay at my job and work remotely), a new coast, and a new life. We had been married for a few years, we wanted to start a family, and we were excited that by chance, our timing was right. We had a cruise scheduled for the end of June 2018 with my husband’s family, and we just closed on our house as we found out about the pregnancy and were getting ready to move to the Phoenix area. Our realtor recommended a highly respected OBGYN in Scottsdale, who I got an appointment with just as we returned from the cruise. 2/15/2021 0 Comments So, what’s The Tidy Tot all about?![]() Do you feel like you’re living in chaos? There are toys everywhere, you’re running out of snacks and the laundry is piling high with no end in sight. Sound familiar? It was me. Our first doctor visit with our first, I was so embarrassed - I completely forgot the diaper bag and the nurse had to give me diapers and wipes. A week later, I can remember asking my mom very frustratedly, “WHEN CAN I PUT THIS BABY ON A SCHEDULE?!” I think she was in shock - someone who had previously happily dealt with chaos was losing their mind with an unpredictable newborn who was only barely a week old. As I started running a household with kids, life got crazy and I felt like I had lost control. Something as easy as grocery shopping was now a huge process (throw in a global pandemic just a few months later and that’s another story for another day…) and the amount of stuff we were (and still are) acquiring was getting bigger and bigger. As a designer who loves home decor, a messy house with loud kid’s toys was also a big struggle for me. |
